Childcare Centers Give Children a Better Start When Working Together
Printer friendly version
In 2004, United Way of the Greater Seacoast extended an invitation to local childcare centers to explore how, through working together, they might find ways to share resources in order to focus on their real work – taking care of young children. The result was the Partnership for Effective Early Learning (PEEL), and in a very short time, PEEL's efforts are making a difference in how childcare works in the Seacoast.
PEEL's philosophy: Early learning lays a solid foundation for future learning.
Quality early childhood education strengthens families and communities.
All children should have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
That is why we are coming together as independent, early childhood programs to share our services, our management, our buying power, and our programming to sustain and enhance our work.
The above statement of purpose didn't come about immediately. It followed focused work and strategy research with the shared vision of delivery quality childcare to their communities. What emerged was an ideal example of the power of getting people to work together. With a United Way staff member serving as a guide for this young collective, members are finding ways to better serve local children.
