United Way of the Greater Seacoast is helping children and youth achieve their potential through education by improving access to quality affordable childcare and early learning opportunities.

United Way established the Partnership for Effective Early Learning (PEEL) so area childcare centers could identify opportunities to collaborate, including reducing operating costs by sharing services, in order to keep their focus on providing quality childcare instead of how to keep the doors open. Nearly a dozen executive directors, representing childcare centers throughout the region, are part of this initiative to make sure all families have access to quality, affordable early learning opportunities for their children.

As a result, these childcare centers have entered into several bulk purchasing agreements, realizing significant savings to individual centers through negotiating better, and they're making plans to share additional backroom operations, best practices and more.

Did you know...

  • Children with access to early childhood education perform better in school, have a higher rate of graduation and go on to higher paying jobs than those without.
  • In NH, the cost of childcare has increased by 88% in the past 5 years, making safe, quality early learning opportunities unaffordable for many Seacoast families.
